In the realm of high-performance horology, the image must serve as an accurate reflection of the watch as a functional instrument.

This project for the skeletonized Zenith Defy was approached with a focus on structural clarity and the preservation of matte-finished textures. Unlike traditional high-polish retouching, the challenge here lay in defining the complex, multi-layered architecture of the open-worked dial without introducing artificial glare.

The retouching workflow centered on luminosity management across the monochromatic palette. Each bridge and gear of the movement was individually treated to ensure separation and depth, allowing the viewer to appreciate the mechanical complexity at a glance. Special care was taken with the rubber and ceramic surfaces to maintain their tactile quality, ensuring they remain grounded and rugged.

Reflections on the flat sapphire crystal were meticulously shaped to suggest a real-world environment, providing atmosphere while maintaining total legibility of the handset.

These visuals offer a nuanced look into the watch’s architecture, ensuring the final asset is as intricate as the skeletonized dial it portrays.
